CAMPING AT BAKKUM

Just 40 minutes outside the city is a campground called Bakkum that's big with Amsterdam families as you can set-up there for the summer, but still pop back if you need to work/ the weather's crap/ you have a thing on. Our family is a bit late to the party but over the past few days we really enjoyed it. After a few dodgy false camping starts, I'm getting a little more into it (no more pregnancies, extreme weather events, or uncomfortable beds hopefully). It also helps that this time both kids are a bit older. Cal can run off and do his own thing with mates and Stella is a bit more independent too. 

The campground is a 17 minute walk to the beach through beautiful fields and dunes. We hired bikes and went a bit further up the coast ending up at a nudist beach (much to the boys' horror). On a 25 degree blue bird day it was practically empty, and you could almost believe you were in Oz.
