Around These Parts
The weather in Sydney is a little more winter-appropriate at the moment. 10-18 degrees, a bit rainy, a bit overcast and sometimes a cheerful sun shining through for an hour or two.
Yesterday we used the poor weather as an opportunity to visit Ryde's indoor aquatic centre, which was like Amsterdam's Tun Fun, with water. So Cal pretty much died with happiness. Stupid me forgot the camera, but we'll be back in the next few days, so I'll try to capture his shenanigans then.
I love mum and Grandma's house. It's perfect for a one year old. Its all plush carpet and toy boxes. Cal has taken to suburban living like a fish to water. He loves racing down the hallway and hiding in one of the bedrooms when I mention a nappy change. He sweeps. He knows where the rubbish bin is. He stands at the front door and says 'Door' when he wants to be let outside and he has a favorite plant in the garden - a cat's tail-like frond that's planted next to a rose bush. He goes from one to the other practicing the sounds for soft and sharp.
Mum is also teaching him 'maths' and colors with different colored milk bottle tops that she collected. Cal can now identify blue, handing me the blue lid when asked.
