London Calling

Cal's growing up and it's exciting to think that we can start taking him on trips that he (and hopefully we) will actually enjoy. Until now travel has been a necessity rather than pleasure. But now that he's older he seems to get more out of it - he still talks about the pool in Morocco and I'm sure he's going to remember his trip to London, namely for one reason - Simon's helicopter. Or quadcopter, more specifically, that he was allowed to hold and even help fix.

We had two great nights with Simon and Sara at their place in London Fields. When I lived in London 10 years ago there wasn't so much going on around there and never had occasion to explore the area. These days it's is a perfect mix of beautiful parks, cafes and gourmet markets, and we had a brilliant time mostly hanging in the parks, pushing the scoot and watching Simon fly his new toy.

Like all city-breakers Cal learnt some travel-lessons:
1. Don't drink a banana milk and then play games on the iPad whilst landing. To avoid projectile vomiting it's better to look out the window. Learnt that one the hard way.
2. Taking a scooter to a city is a most excellent idea. Every footpath, cafe and airport terminal is more fun with one.
3. London is advertised as a 40 min flight, but when you're two it's a long six hours from door to door.
4. Traveling is kind of exhausting, but it's worth it, especially when Simon, Sara and helicopters are involved.
