Italy in October - Part 1
The terrace at Terre di Nano |
Those of us who were able to walk and drink explored Montepulciano the first day for wine tasting and rambling around the old town, whilst David, Cal and I stayed behind to explore the grounds of the villa - mostly playing Bocce ball, hanging with the three hotel Basset Hounds, and discovering that olives picked fresh off the trees REALLY can't be eaten. In the evenings, instead of going out David cooked big Italian family style dinners to accompany the many bottles of wine brought home by the rest of the gang.
There was plenty of time for hanging out around the kitchen table, reading on deck chairs and in hammocks, endless games of frisbee, and Cal got to spend some excellent quality time with Mum, Simon, Alex and Sara. "I don't want them to go," he whimpered to me on the last night. So all up, a perfect family holiday. Can't wait to do it again next year with the little one in tow.
Being wheeled through airports. Embarrassing and convenient. |
