Sint Martin's Lantern Night
Every year on the 11th of November kids across Europe celebrate Martinmas, or Sint Martin as it's called here in NL. It celebrates an old Saint who was a friend to kids and the poor. It's a little bit like Halloween, children go door to door singing songs with lanterns that they (or their crafty Dad) has made and receive candy in return. Unfortunately, this year was a bit of a wash-out and Cal came home with a soggy lantern and wet clothes, but he was still smiling about the decent amount of candy he managed to score.
